Sherwood Park Crusaders defenceman Jude Bray, Chilliwack Chiefs forward Nico Grabas and Brooks Bandits forward Harry Ahlberg have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 13.
1st Star – Jude Bray (D) – Sherwood Park Crusaders
Bray led all skaters with seven points in two games last week, scoring once and collecting six assists in a pair of Crusaders victories.
On Friday, the Penn State University commit registered three helpers in an 8-5 win against the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs. The following night, Bray totaled four points in a 6-0 victory over the Okotoks Oilers. The 17-year-old blueliner assisted on three straight Sherwood Park goals, then notched his fifth of the season on a late power play.
Bray is averaging over a point per game this season, currently sitting at 21 points in 20 contests.
2nd Star – Nico Grabas (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Grabas finished the final week before the All-Star break with three goals, two assists and five points in two games.
The Chiefs captain collected two goals and two assists in a losing effort on Friday night, tying his season high for points in a single game in a loss to the Sherwood Park Crusaders. On Saturday, Grabas extended his point streak to eight games with a goal in a loss to the Blackfalds Bulldogs.
The Burnaby, B.C. native is tied for sixth in BCHL scoring with 39 points in 27 games and also tied for sixth in the league with 18 goals.
3rd Star – Harry Ahlberg (F) – Brooks Bandits
Ahlberg’s four goals last week were the most in the league. He also gathered an assist to finish with five points in three contests.
The 2005-born forward scored the opening goal of the game on Friday before potting the eventual game-winner while shorthanded in the Bandits 5-3 triumph over the Blackfalds Bulldogs. After being held off the scoresheet the following night, Ahlberg scored another two markers on Tuesday, while adding an assist for a three-point outing in a 5-4 win over the Okotoks Oilers.
The Swedish forward is third in Bandits goal scoring with 12 and fifth in points with 26 in 33 games.
